The Renegades – The three vehicles that created our new fleet.
Demolition is defined as “the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired,” but here at On Time Elite, the demolition process is a bit more hopeful than that.
This blog will walk you through our demolition architectural and design process, tapping into why each unit is unique and why our clients love them so much.
About six or seven years ago, we realized we had gotten stuck in time and decided to take action. To our shock, the units that carried us through so many vital years in the fashion and entertainment world were ready for retirement.
In their glory days, our units housed some of our global pop Cultures icons, Madonna, David Bowie, Sting, Michael Jackson, Biggie, P Diddy, Prince, and Elton John. Not to mention supermodels like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, to name a few.
But, we realized that they could only hold the wardrobe department. So, our fearless leaders, owners, and operators, D AND I (for privacy reasons, we won’t disclose their names 😎), came up with a radical idea to clean house and start anew. And that is how our Galaxy bus came into being.
On-Time Elite took a chance
We took a chance with The Galaxy; in an economy recovering from a recession and our business in no position to finance a million-dollar unit, we went all in and did the unthinkable.
On-Time Elite Purchased, demolished, and began rebuilding the Galaxy from the ground up. On-Time Elite incorporated hair and makeup stations and brought in lighting systems that mirrored that of the studios. We built it all in-house with the finest materials we could find, ensuring the inevitable wear and tear wouldn’t set us back. Our design and construction teams kept the layout seamless and accessible, incorporated all possible amenities into the unit, and created one of the most versatile units to date.
The Galaxy indeed became the phoenix of our new fleet. Its introduction led us to a slew of new clients. No longer just holding space for wardrobe departments. The Galaxy became popular with big industry names such as Viacom, NBC, HBO, and DISNEY, to name a few.
The Galaxy brought us the glory we were looking to attain. Not only that, it gave us the leverage to introduce more units.
What should have taken five years occurred in one year and a half. On-Time Elite’s owner hit the ground running ( literally ) and went all the way to the West coast to purchase the Blue.
He then drove it back to the east coast and brought in the big guns; I’m talking engineers, architects, interior designers, and construction professionals to build something exceptional. While all that was happening, On Time Elite purchased the Pearl, fresh out of the factory, and immediately demolished and rebuilt it also.
Creating the Renegades – The three vehicles that created our new fleet wasn’t easy. What may seem so simple to anyone reading this blog was genuinely a complex and expensive operation in real life.
Most people/companies do not spend millions renovating new units out of the factory.
Anyone can supply a motorhome for a film shoot, but what On-Time Elite did was provide a solution for an industry challenge.
NOTE: The number of on-location vehicle companies is minimal. Clients receive generic trailers that can’t be called actual talent trailers, greenrooms, or production office trailers. On-Time Elite is changing the market while renovating the design and production of luxury production buses.
Back to the Blue and the Pearl- both units underwent a heavy demolition. That meant two to four months of being inside our shop. They were completely gutted and restructured. Our team replaced the electrical and water lines. Rewired many of the internal mechanisms. The team removed and ultimately replaced. the walls and base flooring.
Creating a blank canvas to make two extraordinary units
On-Time Elite invested large amounts of money in the vehicles. A team of professionals created these production bus masterpieces. Purchasing and importing the finest cruelty-free leathers, custom-making sofas, and rebuilding walls that wouldn’t warp in any climate. Changing and replacing every frame, marble laminate, and wood panel helped create spectacular units that stood in a league of their own.
When On-Time Elite introduced the Pearl, it doubled its clientele. When we brought in the Blue, the shift was even more noticeable. Upon its release, the Blue became a versatile beast, housing superstars in fashion and pop culture again and becoming a high-end makeup trailer for top-tier ad campaigns such as Versace, YSL, and Gucci. In addition, Blue’s lavish interior quickly became sought after for these types of shoots.
Creating and maintaining the Renegades – The three vehicles that created our new fleet was not an easy task. On-Time Elite took a significant financial risk in creating and rebuilding these incredible vehicles. It seems crazy to demolish completely new vehicles. But, unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to relish in them before the demolition. In the end, it wasn’t like the dictionary definition. Our top-of-the-line production buses repaired our business, which is thriving more than ever.
Stay tuned as we break down the new era of trailers released by On Time Elite.
