Since the start of the pandemic, the world has changed. On Time Elite has managed to adapt to this new way of living, and we’re helping the entertainment industry to get back on its feet.
That being said, first things first: wash your hands; now that that’s done, let’s proceed. 😉
The entire industry is trying to figure out how to make things work, and we wanted to share the changes we’ve made to our services and day-to-day operations.
Catering
This used to be something that would bring everyone on staff together during the hectic workday. It was where we could kick back with our peers – maybe talk about the shoot or about The Bachelor. It brought a sense of unity. You could sit beside your co-worker and just munch and eat and laugh a bit before heading back to work.
Now catering has become a singular activity. Meals are pre-ordered and individually packed, and you have to eat them alone. The pandemic took away that sense that even those in the food and bar industry call the “family meal” where you sit with your peers and relax and enjoy. The pandemic changed that maybe forever, which is pretty sad if you ask me.
Cleanliness
Although we may not enjoy buffet-style family meals with our co-workers, you have to admit that the pandemic has brought a whole new sense of cleanliness on set. Sets were fundamentally clean to begin with. But the pandemic brought strict, standardized sweeping mopping, and wiping protocols to protect the health and well-being of staff members.
In the past, if a studio wasn’t up to code, it may have been overlooked by many producers and coordinators to save a few dollars. Nowadays, there’s no price on health. While other on-location vehicle providers would clean their units once a month despite having heavy foot traffic shoot after shoot, the purpose was “work more, take in more jobs, and make that money, honey.” But now, the price of health is no price. You’re paying for peace of mind, safety, cleanliness, and a virus-free environment.

Pros and Cons of COVID-19
Pros of the Pandemic
Focus on Health – Health has never been a bigger priority, thanks to the current focus on health and safety. The focus on health will continue to pay dividends for years as coordinators, directors, producers, and vendors ensure high cleanliness standards.
Less work – I know it sounds wrong, but since there are fewer things to shoot or events to prep for, the quality is better. For example, during the pandemic major brands got a chance to revamp and reshape themselves. We were a part of the new Victoria’s Secret For Love and Lemons campaign. Teams were smaller. The talent wasn’t 4-6 models but just 1-2. The photos were fantastic, and the campaign’s focus was detailed, so it made for better exposure when we start presenting to the public.
Other events now take the wheel on-location – Our main focus has always been live events, but due to the pandemic, there’s a focus on scenic weddings. People don’t want to be inside a venue. Being out in the fresh air is a big option, and on-location vehicles are there to house the bride, groom, and their wedding parties safely and efficiently.
Cons of the Pandemic
The Unknown – There is huge uncertainty as to what will happen after we overcome this pandemic. Will foreign accounts fly and shoot in NYC? Will New York return to its busy, bustling nature? Will events like concerts and festivals resume?
The biggest and (I believe) the only con is that we don’t know what will happen. Nonetheless, we remain steadfast and adaptive with the changes that come, hoping they lead to what makes the entertainment industry so fabulous, the constant action.
