Estimates!! Getting estimates ahead of time allows our clients to pull from other budgets to cover their on-location vehicles.
Justifying the cost – all the new fees that have now driven up the rental prices are perfectly justified – fueling, covid cleaning, and CDL drivers are all standard. Because they keep the units functioning, the staff safe, and the drivers available, clients pull funds from where they need to book these units.
Trimming cost wherever possible – clients will cut budgets from anything from catering to equipment to cover an on-location vehicle simply because its vital
How to manage your production budget during these inflationary times?
One of the most frequently asked questions over the last few months has been something to the effect of, So, “How are clients budgeting on location units nowadays?”
The answer is quite simple – ask for an estimate! Figure out a way to pull from other budgets to cover on-location vehicles.
Planning for shoots ahead of time and getting estimates is a surefire way to map out your expenditures. The vehicles that On Time Elite has are pristine, top of the lines, and essential for shoots on location. Due to the price increase and demand for motorhomes, clients should get an estimate early in the budgeting process.
First, it is worth noting that the price increases for our motorhomes are both unfortunate and necessary. All the new costs have driven the rental prices up. This is painful but necessary if we all wish to stay afloat. Here’s a quick look at the new costs we see on our end:
- Fuel prices are at an all-time high. Fuel costs have put a significant price increase on all of our vehicles.
- Covid cleaning and all the extra hands-on work we need to perform to curb the spread of Covid-19 put a strain on budgets and timelines. However, we want to work to make sure our employees are safe at work.
- CDL drivers are few and far between these days. As a result, we are seeing a massive shortage, putting extra strain on our drivers who are now working longer and harder to transport the motorhomes.
- Maintenance is a cost that’s ever-growing. Our vehicles are in such high demand that we see more wear and tear on the interiors and exteriors of the vans. If we wish to provide quality vehicles, we must keep up with maintenance.
Where can you cut and still afford professional On-location vehicles?
With all that happening, the next question we usually hear is – “How do I factor in these changes in our budget plans?”
The answer is – Estimates. Estimates allow clients to pull from other budgets to cover their on-location vehicles.
Our motorhomes make all the difference between professional, quality, gold-standard production and a coordination nightmare that wastes time and money. So we’ve been seeing our clients make cuts in their budget elsewhere.
Places, where clients tend to cut, are:
- Catering services
- Specific equipment that might not be vital for the specific production
- Accessories like tents
- Scouting services
Nobody wants to make budget cuts that will affect production, so once again, we strongly advise our clients to plan and get an estimate. Our in-office crew would love to talk with you about your motorhome needs to set you with a proper estimate.
